What is harm reduction?
Harm reduction is a public health approach to substance use disorders that focuses on reducing the negative consequences associated with drug use, rather than on eliminating drug use entirely. The basic idea is that, even if someone is unable or unwilling to stop using drugs, there are still things that can be done to reduce the harm caused by their drug use.

Harm reduction recognizes that substance use disorders are complex issues with no easy solutions, and that people who use drugs often face significant stigma, marginalization, and other barriers to accessing healthcare and social services. By focusing on reducing harm rather than demanding abstinence, harm reduction approaches seek to meet people where they are and support them in making safer choices that improve their health and well-being.
